A Dynasty of Scholarship
Dr. B.V. Raman (1912–1998)
The Raman family's contribution to Jyotiṣa is without parallel in the modern era. For fifteen generations, this lineage has preserved, practised, and advanced the sciences of Vāstu Śāstra, mantra śāstra, yajña, and classical astrology — maintaining an unbroken chain of knowledge transmission that few traditions in the world can claim.
At the heart of this legacy stands Dr. B.V. Raman (1912–1998), widely acknowledged as the foremost Jyotiṣa scholar of the twentieth century. In 1936, he founded The Astrological Magazine, a publication that would become the most widely read journal of its kind in the world. His rigorous, evidence-based approach brought Jyotiṣa the respect of academic and professional communities globally.
